Why This. Why Now.

The governance landscape is shifting.
Are your boards ready?

July 2026 is a uniquely critical moment for directors of Namibian public enterprises; three major reform vectors are converging simultaneously.

Namibia's boards are operating in a setting being actively reshaped by statute, code, and international standards. The Public Enterprises Amendment Bill proposes transferring key powers between ministers, making the question of board authority a live, not theoretical, issue in 2026.

Meanwhile, King V, now current and effective, explicitly requires boards to govern AI, data, and emerging technologies as core board responsibilities. OECD 2024 guidance raises the bar for board independence, objectivity, and CEO accountability structures.

This programme helps directors separate what is mandatory under Namibian law, what is recommended under governance codes, and what is becoming emerging best practice, equipping directors them to act confidently at all three levels.

Namibia · Statute
Public Enterprises Amendment Bill: In Progress
Proposed transfer of certain PE powers to the Prime Minister and relevant minister. Directly reshapes minister–board–CEO authority boundaries that every director must understand.
South Africa · Code · Effective Now
King V: Effective 1 January 2026
The first governance code to explicitly require boards to oversee AI, machine learning, and emerging technology as core board obligations, not a specialist side topic.
International · Standard · 2024
OECD SOE Guidelines: Revised 2024
The leading global standard for SOE governance. Positions board authority, independence, and objectivity as non-negotiable requirements, not best-endeavour aspirations.
